All kids win a trophy and the first 100 receive a goody bag jammed full of toys, coupons, and gift certificates. Let’s take a look at eleven of these picturesque rail trails. Parents, stick around after the 5k for the Kids Fun Run. Sizes not guaranteed: 1st come, 1st serve so register early! The first 350 registrants receive a Tech shirt. We also collect 125-150 or more door prizes valued over $2,000! With only 350-400 participants, your odds of winning a trophy or a door prize are pretty good! We also have a HUGE smorgasbord of delicious food including several types of pizza, pepperoni rolls, deli-fresh sandwiches, homemade cookies, muffins, & candies, and Jessica’s famous pasta salad! If you leave this race hungry, it’s your own fault! We offer more trophies (200+!) in more divisions (including a Masters division in both the Run and Walk, a unique Dog-Walking Division, and scores of Age Groups) than most 5k’s of this size that you will find anywhere! These unique, beautifully hand-crafted trophies, featuring an authentic railroad spike, were once mentioned in Runner’s World magazine and are highly sought-after! This is a completely flat, fast course with a nice & steady half-mile downhill start! Many PR’s have been set on this course! We all need more ways to get out and about where we can maintain safety whilst still having fun.Rails-to-Trails 5k 5K Walk / 5K Run / 5K K9 Walk / Kids Fun Runĭon’t let the name fool you! While the proceeds benefit the Rails-to-Trails project, 80% of the course is on pavement. The benefits of the Somerset Rail to Trail Project to communities across Somerset include road safety, physical and mental health benefits, accessibility for disabled and elderly users, reduced carbon emissions, and economic benefits from attracted tourism, as well as opportunities for diversified income streams for landowners along the route. It is one of the most ambitious projects of it’s kind and we aim to link our endeavours with those of the North Dorset Trailway to the south and with Frome’s Missing Links and the Strawberry Line to the north. We are currently working on a proposal to transform the disused Somerset & Dorset railway line from the southern border of Somerset at Henstridge to the north-west border at Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea. Our initiative aims to create an off road route that will enable everyone to travel safely away from traffic through glorious countryside. Plus, well feature some of your stories on RTCs national social media and web platforms, reaching hundreds of thousands of people who like to get out and adventure locally on trails, too. Take TrailLink with you today and let Rails-to-Trails Conservancy be your expert guide out on the trail.

Rails-to-Trails Conservancys GIS mapping initiatives have produced more than 40,000 miles of highly accurate trail maps. However, lack of safety is the number one barrier for local residents to engage in active travel. At Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC), we want to know more about what trails mean to you. 98 % of local residents surveyed are in support of this project - everyone recognises the need to stay fit and healthy as well as to reduce our carbon emissions.
